The warm-up for this years IFMAR World Championship 1/10 Nitro Touring Car was held in Houston, Texas at the beginning of March. For Team Shepherd it was quite an important event as it was the real first test with the team under race conditions with our latest development, the Velox V10, against other international top drivers. As announced before, Shepherd’s team drivers Jilles Groskamp, Daniele Ielasi and Josh Cyrul joined the factory staff around Patrick Schäfer to prepare for this years major event in July.

Shepherd is happy to announce that they have agreed a deal with world-class driver Jilles Groskamp to extend his contract for a further two years. The top-qualifier of the last 1:10 200mm Nitro World Championship will continue to race the Velox V8 in 1/8th scale and the Velox V10 in nitro touring car. Jilles had the following to say:

Front running French racer Thomas Desmaries will use the Shepherd Velox V10 for the upcoming season. The French Cup winner of 2008 and 2009 will help the local distributor WDS Racing Products promoting the brand new Velox V10 in the competetive national championship.

Thomas had the following to say: “I really enjoy to join the new French Shepherd/WDS racing team for this season 2010. I will do my best to win the Championship title this year, and i’ll try to win the French Cup the third time in a row. Also I’m sure with an innovative car like the V10 I’ll have a good result at the World this year, and I’m eager to start the season with my new Velox.”

Shepherd Micro Racing are pleased to announce the release of the new Velox V10 1/10 scale 200mm chassis. Designed with the help of current World Champion Daniele Ielasi, the car has already been proving its performance on tracks around the World, finishing runner up at this year’s ROAR Nationals in the hands of Josh Cyrul and winning the competitive Asian Cup in Bangkok driven by Jilles Groskamp. Seen for the first time as a one-off prototype at the 2009 International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, the chassis has undergone a lot of fine tuning in preparation for its public release.

After a successfull year with the Velox 1/8th scale racing car winning an European Championship in its debut season, it is a pleasure for us to announce that we will also enter the 1/10th scale touring car market. In cooperation with the current World Champion Daniele Ielasi we want to introduce the most innovative 1/10th scale touring car ever seen. The V10 will be completely different from other cars on the market. Beside many other new features we can already reveal that the Direct V-brake System will also be included.

Swiss Champion switches to Shepherd
We are very happy to announce that we could sign Marco Müller for the season 2009. The current Swiss 1/8th Scale On-Road Champion will use the Velox at National races as well as at the World Championship next year in Lostallo, Switzerland. We really appreciate the fact that Marco is confident to achieve a good result with a new car at this important event.

We are happy to announce that the new chassis plate ‘09 for the Velox has been released. It features a coutut in the front in which an additional 30g weight can be mounted as well as 4 holes on the sides for another 70g of additional weight. By mounting up to 100g on the very bottom of the chassis the center of gravity is much lower and the performance will be improved.

Shepherd-Velox 2009 Upright Set

“Another useful optional item made it to mass production. With the uprights ‘09 and the corresponding excentric insert it is possible to use smaller tyres with the same riding height. This is extremly useful in long finals to avoid a tyre change. The excentric inserts are made of high-quality 7075 T6 aluminium for a perfect fit of the ball bearings.  We have released another new optional part for the Velox. This special carbon transponder mount can be mounted at the very bottom of the car underneath the front one-way axle for the lowest possible center of gravity. There is no better place for a personal transponder that is already used by many drivers no matter if they race the World Championship or a local club race. Alternatively it can be used to add some weight to the car. All Velox chassis are already prepared to fix this nice and innovativ optional part.
